Create a stronger, smoother foundation before painting with LIHA Primer Spray – Grey Acrylic Base Coat. Designed to improve paint adhesion and surface uniformity, this quick-drying aerosol primer helps prepare different substrates before applying the final colour coat.
The grey primer layer helps cover minor surface variations, improves topcoat consistency and provides a more uniform base for automotive, metal, plastic, wood and general refinishing applications when used on properly prepared surfaces.
Its ready-to-use aerosol format makes surface preparation faster and more convenient without the need for a spray gun or separate mixing.

General surface preparation before painting
Directions for Use
1. Prepare the Surface
Remove all dirt, grease, oil, wax, rust, loose paint and contamination from the surface.
Sand the area until smooth and ensure the substrate is clean and completely dry before application.
2. Treat the Surface Correctly
For bare metal, remove rust completely before priming.
For plastic surfaces, use a compatible plastic adhesion promoter where required before applying primer.
3. Shake Well
Shake the aerosol vigorously for approximately 2–3 minutes before spraying.
Continue shaking periodically during application.
4. Test Spray
Perform a test spray on a hidden area or spare panel to check spray pattern, adhesion and compatibility.
5. Apply the Primer
Hold the can approximately 20–30 cm (8–12 inches) away from the surface.
Spray using smooth, even and overlapping passes.
6. Apply Thin Coats
Apply approximately 2–3 thin coats rather than one heavy coat.
Allow around 5–10 minutes between coats.
Thin coats help reduce:
-
Runs
-
Sagging
-
Uneven drying
-
Excessive film build
-
Longer drying time
7. Sand if Required
After the primer has dried sufficiently, the surface can be lightly sanded to improve smoothness before applying the final colour coat.
Use the appropriate sanding grade depending on the surface condition and required finish.
Drying Time
-
Touch Dry: Approximately 10–15 minutes
-
Recoat Time: Approximately 5–10 minutes
-
Sanding: After sufficient drying
-
Full Cure: Up to 24 hours
Drying time may vary depending on temperature, humidity, ventilation, film thickness and surface condition.
Before Applying Topcoat
Ensure the primer surface is:
-
Fully dry
-
Smooth
-
Free from sanding dust
-
Free from grease and contamination
-
Properly prepared for the chosen topcoat
For automotive colour applications, apply the compatible basecoat after the primer has dried and been prepared correctly.
Important Application Notes
-
Do not apply over dirty or oily surfaces
-
Remove rust before application
-
Avoid excessively heavy coats
-
Maintain consistent spray distance
-
Use only in a well-ventilated area
-
